The Capannina di Franceschi, commonly called La Capannina, is a local historian of Forte dei Marmi in the province of Lucca. Opened in August 1929 by Achille Franceschi, hotel manager of the place, who made the place in a shed used by a carpenter as a tool shed. The restaurant has been successful from the beginning, and is rediscovered nobles, intellectuals and prominent figures, so as to make La Capannina one of the most prestigious gatherings of summer Italy. Rebuilt after a major fire, which occurred in 1939, it had its maximum splendor in the sixties and seventies, after which it was ceded by the founder to Gherardo and Carla Guidi, current managers, keeping the original structure almost intact. The Capannina of Forte dei Marmi has the record as a dance club with the oldest restaurant in the world and has never changed its name since opening, and has been the set for some movies that have become cult like Sapore di mare and Abbronzatissimi with jerry Calà, still now a regular guest in Capannina with its piano bar evenings. The winning formula of the club today indissolubly links Disco music and Live show: on the dance floor the contemporary hits are mixed by the most famous DJs, passing through evergreen pieces of the national and international repertoire interpreted, strictly live by the most popular Italian bands. The third millennium has opened as the previous one has closed and has found La Capannina di Franceschi under the lights of the spotlight, at the center of the world of music and fashion trends, cuisine, costume and lifestyle.
